Goodbye Boring, Hello Cute Kitchen Herbs

Kitchen Herb Garden

Turn that dead wall into something alive, and useful! It’s funny because when I started this project I didn’t even think about taking any before pictures, because it was literally just a blank wall. All the cabinets and appliances are neatly lined up around the other three walls in this perfectly square kitchen. This particular wall is the pass way that connects the dining room to the garage and basement. So, space was limited. Cabinets or a table ended up blocking the doorway. We needed to go another route. A pretty hanging herb garden was my first thought, but the kitchen is pretty small and any extra cooking space would be more useful than something decorative.  I really liked the idea of using a small herb garden as a reason to create extra storage space for items that would likely take up room on the counters (ie. wine racks, microwave, cookbooks, etc.) I also repurposed the pan hanging rack for these cute mugs to give the wall an extra pop of color. Not to mention they matched perfectly with my little herb sprouts!

Blank Wall = Extra Space

All of these items were purchased at IKEA for super cheap. I spent less than $200 to turn a blank wall into a cute storage area that might even help my cooking out a bit. I probably need more help that, but it is a start!
